The Hetch Hetchy Controversy, 1903-13

Additional Resources in the Library of Congress

The Library of Congress's General Collections include many materials related to the Hetch Hetchy controversy: books, pamphlets, and government documents. A significant sampling of these is included in the digital collection, along with the relevant congressional documents from the collection of the Law Library of Congress. After consulting works included in the Conservation Collection, readers who have direct access to the Library, or to other major research libraries, might wish to look at the titles listed below. They are given in order of date of publication. Note that two books and one congressional hearing published after 1913 are included. The two books give near contemporary accounts of the Hetch Hetchy dam, one by the engineer in charge of building it. The hearing considers an amendment to the Raker Act that authorized the dam.
