SUMMARY
Report of La Perouse's voyage around the world in 1785-88. In addition to descriptions of the voyage, the work contains extensive information on the geography, ethnography, languages, and flora and fauna of the regions visited.
Bericht zu der Weltreise von La Perouse in den Jahren von 1785 bis 1788. Neben den Reisebeschreibungen enthält das Werk umfangreiche Informationen und einzelne Aufsätze zur Geographie, Ethnographie, Sprache, Tier- und Pflanzenwelt der bereisten Gebiete.
NOTES
The first volume deals with preparations for the voyage and briefly describes La Perouse's earlier voyages.
The second volume covers the period of August 1785-April 1787, when La Perouse sailed from Brest, France, to the islands of St. Catarina, Conception, the Easter Islands, the Sandwich Islands, along the western American coast, to Macao, China, and on to Manila, Philippines.
The third volume deals with the period of April 1787-January 1788, when La Perouse sailed from China along Japan and Sakhalin to Kamchatka, and on to the island of Mauna and the South Pacific islands. The volume also presents tables of geographic positions and climatological measurements.
The fourth volume contains scientific essays, letters from La Perouse, and an index to the entire work.

Der erste Band umfasst die Reisevorbereitungen und kurze Berichte zu früheren Seereisen von La Perouse.
Der zweite Band umfasst den Reiseabschnitt von Brest über die Inseln St. Catharina, Conception, den Osterinseln, den Sandwichinseln, entlang der westamerikanischen Küste nach Macao in China bis nach Manila auf den Philippinen von August 1785 bis April 1787.
Der dritte Band umfasst den Reiseabschnitt von China, entlang Japan, der Insel Sachalin nach Kamtschatka und weiter nach der Insel Mauna und weiteren Südseeinseln von April 1787 bis Januar 1788. Diesem Buch sind Tabellen mit Positionsbestimmungen und Klimamessungen beigefügt.
