SUMMARY
This atlas of China, Tibet and the area known as Tartary was compiled by J. B. d'Anville and based on maps from Jesuit monks. Among the regional maps of the Chinese provinces are also maps of the regions bordering southern Siberia. In addition, this work contains a print of a hand-drawn map by Vitus Bering, which corresponds to the original available in the Göttingen library's Manuscripts Division. The maps include conventional signs of settlements, rivers and lakes, mountains and roads.
Diesen Atlas von China hat J.B. d'Anville nach Kartenvorlagen von Jesuiten-Mönchen zusammengestellt. Unter den zahlreichen Regionalkarten der chinesischen Provinzen befinden sich auch Karten aus dem Bereich Südsibiriens. Ausserdem enthält dieses Werk den Abdruck einer handgezeichneten Karte von Vitus Bering, die dem in der Göttinger Handschriftensammlung vorhandenen Manuskript entspricht. Die einzelnen Karten enthalten Darstellungen von Siedlungen, Gewässern, Gebirgen und Wegen.
