An abridged translation of the then inedited Spanish ms. in the royal archives at Simancas, entitled "Relacion del suceso de la jornada que hizo Hernando de Soto, y de la calidad de la tierra por donde anduvo." The translation was apparently made from the French version in Ternaux-Compans, Voyages, relations et mémoire originaux ...Paris, 1841, v. 20.
