English Description: Translation and elucidation in English of two important documents of the early history of New Amsterdam. Breeden Raedt ('Broad Advice') was written by I.A. and G.W.C. and is attributed to Cornelis Melyn. Vertoogh van Nieuw Nederland ('A Tale of New Netherland') is attributed to Adriaen van der Donck. The originals were published in 1649-1650.

Dutch Description: Vertaling en toelichting in het Engels van twee belangrijke werken uit de vroege geschiedenis van Nieuw Amsterdam. Breeden raedt werd geschreven door I.A. en G.W.C. en wordt toegeschreven aan Cornelis Melyn. Vertoogh van Nieuw Nederland wordt toegeschreven aan Adriaen van der Donck. Oorspronkelijk verschenen in 1649-1650.
